The First Days

The international assembly is well underway with the second day revolving around the theme of "Community Life." We had a very good first day with the inauguration of the assembly which was filled with joy and fraternity. We had a tour of the beautiful campus of De La Salle University at  Dasmariñas followed by Mass and a superb and incomparable welcome dinner reception, très magnifique!

It has been very inspirational, humbling and refreshing to be able to meet other young Brothers from many different parts of the Institute across the globe. I have to say that I am looking forward to the unfolding of the upcoming days and whatever is in store for us, definitely much to reflect upon and learn... and a little bit of fun along the way, ¿por qué no? Like they say around here, "It's more fun in the Philippines!!"

Blogging from the Assembly

The International Young Brothers Assembly (IYBA) will take place from Monday, July 29 – Wednesday, August 7 at De La Salle University—Dasmarinas outside Manila, Philippines. Mandated by the 44th General Chapter, this assembly will gather 39 young Brothers representing the international Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools for the purpose of articulating their “dreams and concerns.” The outcomes of the assembly will be forwarded to the 45th General Chapter where the Report of the International Young Brothers Assembly will be one of the three major priorities of the Chapter.

Four young Brothers from the Lasallian Region of North America (RELAN) will attend in the assembly: Brothers David Caretti, Anwar Martinez, Peter Nguyen, and Christopher Patiño. Brother Chris is a member of the preparatory commission.

The Brothers and entire Lasallian family of the Region can follow the highlights of the assembly with the daily updates provided on this blog. Whether or not you are able to follow the blog, the Brother participants ask for your prayers and assure you of our prayers for all involved in Lasallian ministry throughout the Region.
